Aesthetics Schools in MaineThere are very few accredited Aesthetics programs in the state of Maine. Part of this is due to the difficulty of getting an aesthetics teacher license which requires being a cosmetology teacher. Another odd thing is that whereas the State of Maine website states that the required hours of study to become an aesthetician in Maine is 750 hours, the reality is that the state of Maine actually requires 600 hours for an aesthetics license. It has been this way since around 2002. When asked about this, the State of Maine Board of Cosmetology simply says they have not gotten around to it. (Maine is known of having a lot of round to-its). This is just another example of the state motto: Maine, the way life should be. That being said, probably the top spa and wellness oriented program for skin care is Spa Tech Institute in Westbrook, ME. This program was created by Peggy York, RPP, CPE, and Cosmetology Teacher. Her years in the industry as well as her passion for teaching has produced a truly outstanding program.
